Page 43 – How many drinks?

We are nearing the end of our quantum sensing experiment. I’m going to ask a slightly different question:

How many drinks did I have last Sat night? 0? 1? 2? 3? 4? more?

Think about the answer and notice how your answer varies as you consider the question. Close your eyes and meditate now for sixty seconds before continuing …

60 … 59 … 58 …

or do you count up?  … 1 … 2 … 3 …

Page 42 – Eulinda, the Coach Driver

This morning I was hesitant as I boarded the bus to work. I was the only one getting on the bus and it was empty. Eulinda, the coach driver, greeted me with a big smile and reassured me that I was on the right bus. There was a second bus ten minutes behind her which she said was scheduled to arrive earlier because it took a different route.

Notice the events and the probabilities in this story. There is a 99% chance that I’m going to ride the bus to work, but a lesser percent chance that I’m going to take a particular bus. In this case, had I been talking to someone in line, they may have convinced me to skip this bus and wait for the next one which was an express. Going with the “lower probability” bus resulted in a great conversation – I’ll likely take that same bus again 🙂

Page 41 – The Opera Singer

Continue meditating in the back of your mind as I tell you about the opera singer I met last night. He lives on the same floor as my friend who’s place I’m staying at this week in SF. He showed me his place, which was fabulously decorated. He offered me a Manhattan – my drink of choice on the rare occasion when I have a mixed drink and his favorite as well and the only one he has the alcohol to make. I declined and we drank tonic water instead. We talked about his Opera singing days and the high price of real estate in SF – units like his sell for half a million dollars, which is actually not too bad. Twenty-eight years prior when he bought they were selling for $70,000. I may take him up on his Manhattan offer tomorrow.

Did you meditate long enough to feel the probabilities change? Or do you think of me as an alcoholic who can never say no to one more drink? Or maybe you think since I gained respect for the “one more drink” question, that I’m normally a light drinker and last night I had one too many – thus gaining respect. Or maybe my respect cam from observing how alcohol affected my friend, who was with me and texted me the next morning that he was still drunk.

What other possibilities did you think of? All of these possibilities exist as parallel universes that interact and interfere to cause you to feel different probabilities as you continue thinking about it.

I’ve now finished my shrimp and grits, the speciality at Brenda’s where the waitresses are all wearing Brenda’s-branded shirts with “Kiss My Grits” on the back.  New Orleans Jazz is playing.

Page 39 – Guess – Quantum Sense the Past

How do you think I answered? Keep this question in mind as I give you more back story. Notice how the certainty of my answer changes. Assign a percent chance to “No, No, No” and a percent chance to “Yes, Yes, Yes”. If you want to challenge yourself, also assign probabilities to any mixed answers like “Yes, Yes, No” or “No, No, Yes”.

As I disclose more information, of course  your probabilities will change. This is good for you to notice, but it is not quantum sensing. It is making a prediction or educated guess based on available information. Instead, pause after reading each bit of backstory and notice how the probabilities change as you think about them. Before turning the page, meditate now about how I answered my three “one more drink?” questions …
