2026 Day 2: Juan Guaidó recognized Interim President of Venezuela 2536 days ago and Edmundo González Urratia officially lost election 523 days ago

1/1/2 – On January 5, 2019, Juan Guaidó was sworn in as the President of the National Assembly in Venezuela. Many countries of the world, including the U.S., recognized his declaration as the Interim President. Four years later, on January 5, 2023, the National Assembly formally terminated the interim government, and Juan Guaidó’s role as interim president officially ended.

On January 5, 2026, a new leader of Venezuela will likely be recognized. It could be Edmundo González Urratia, the candidate widely believed to have been the unofficial winner of the July 28, 2024 election. It could also be Maria Corina Machado, who is a popular figure in the country and recently was awarded the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize. Machado supports González taking power immediately. González has invited Machado to serve as his Vice President last month in Oslo.

Fun math facts: 2+3=5, 2*3=6, 523 is the 99th prime, 317 is the 66th prime, 2536 = 317 * 2^3, the 33rd prime is 137 – a permutation of 317, 9 ones is 111,111,111 and 137 is factor of the 111,111,111 (137 x 811,030). Permuting 317 again to 371, guess what the 371th prime number is? 2539, making Monday January 5, 2026, a significant mathematical milestone for the timeline of Juan Guaidó’s recognition.

Fun physics facts: 1/137 is famous as the approximate value of the Fine Structure Constant, which governs the strength of electromagnetic interactions. More precisely, in the Bohr model of the hydrogen atom, the speed of the electron in the first orbit is 1/137.036 of c, the speed of light.

Looking ahead: Tuesday, January 20, 2026, will be another destiny day to watch.
